Top 4 European Destinations for the Art Lover

Pamella D. | January 3, 2017

Belvedere Palace Austria

Calling all art lovers! No matter where in the world you travel to, we think it’s pretty safe to say that you will find amazing artwork to appreciate. That being said, we couldn’t help but pull together four European destinations that we think every art lover should have on their list of places to see. From royal palaces to antique churches, these cities make it easy to discover artwork at every turn.

Prague

1. Vienna, Austria

If you are a true art enthusiast then Vienna should be on top of your travel bucket list. This city is not only a must-see for its abundance of beautiful artwork and architecture, but also because it is famously known for being a home away from home to both Beethoven and Mozart during the peak of their careers. With over 100 museums, Vienna is the wonderland of art. When visiting, be sure to check out to the Hofburg, Schönbrunn Palace, the Belvedere Palace (pictured) and the Albertina Museum.

2. Rome, Italy

Not only does this capital city have an incredible array of museums to explore, the city itself can even be considered one! The unsuspecting fountains, old shops, churches and street artists around every corner are sure to take your breath away. When in Rome, be sure to stop by iconic sights such as The Colosseum, The Roman Forum and Vatican City, but also don’t forget to appreciate the antiquity of the many monuments you will pass along the way!

Recommended Tour: Florence and Rome

3. Prague, Czech Republic

The mix of modern, postmodern and contemporary art installations are just one of the many reasons to visit Prague. As you walk through the capital of Czech Republic, prepare to feast your eyes on a some of the world’s best Baroque architecture and be sure to make time to check out the Old Town Square to see local artists in action!

#insidertip: Discounted Museums – The museum of Decorative Arts is free on Tuesdays. In addition, The Kampa Museum and the National Gallery is free on the first Wednesday of every month.

Recommended Tour: Berlin, Prague and The Alps

4. Paris, France

And now, last but certainly not least, we have Paris, France. We just couldn’t complete this list without adding the famous “City of Lights” to our list! From The Eiffel Tower to The Louvre, to Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe, Paris is a living dream for art aficionados. Whether you’re interested in architecture, sculpture, drawing or painting this city is guaranteed to leave you in awe no matter how many times you’ve visted.
